A Lullaby Digital Fusion, Maya, Mudbox, Renderman, ZBrush August 2009
After almost three and a half years I finally have a finished artwork. I had around a couple of months to finish this one. I did this as a favored work for my sister -who, along with my brother-in-law and a friend of theirs are going to publish a magazine next month. This is going to be the cover-art for the book.
I got the idea for this image from a very beautiful painting by William Bouguereau called "La Vierge aux Anges" (The Virgin with Angels). The image had to be themed a bit doomish (Yay funera doom metal !), so I set it up in a lonely graveyard.
Apart from all the softwares mentioned, I also had a custom tool called "Enlighten" (wrote by me) to render out passes from renderman for maya in a more a intuitive way. This project was a good testing ground to use this tool for the first time. Also for the first time I used gamma corrected linear workflow for this project.
I know the image is not perfect, but this is the best I could do for the amount of time that I had (with a full time day job). Thanks for watching!!
